Ethyl acetate is a solvent used in a wide range of applications, including printing inks, varnishes and car care chemicals and in the production of enamels, plastics and rubber. Ethyl acetate is used in the food industry in the production of synthetic flavouring and in the pharmaceutical industry it is used as an extraction solvent in the production of pharmaceuticals.

Among organic solvents ethyl acetate is regarded as being one of those with the least environmental impact. It is both highly effective and at the same time easily broken down in both air and water.

SEKAB’s production processes take place using renewable bioenergy in closed loop systems and with as limited toxicological effects as possible. Our chemicals plant uses a very advanced gas purification process through which the air released from the plant is as clean as that taken in.

The raw material used in the production of ethanol can be either bio- or fossil-based.

Green ethyl acetate – the natural climate choice

SEKAB can deliver green ethyl acetate made from biologically produced ethanol to customers with high environmental standards. It is produced in a process driven by green bio-energy and therefore provides a product while generating low CO2e levels.

Ethyl acetate with second-generation cellulosic ethanol as the raw material

To some of our customers the environmental characteristics of a product are particularly important. For them, SEKAB can provide ethyl acetate made from renewable bio-ethanol. It is possible to produce Ethyl Acetate from second-generation cellulosic ethanol – forestry ethanol for those of our customers who are eager to keep their processes and products as climate neutral as it is at all possible.
