The Ethanol Pilot plant
The Ethanol Pilot plant is a research facility where ethanol is produced from cellulose, known as ’second-generation ethanol’. The Pilot was opened in 2004 and has received a great deal of media attention. SEKAB’s pilot plant has been in continuous operation producing ethanol from forestry waste products since 2005. Plans to develop the plant into a larger demonstration facility are currently in their final stages.
