An important part of SEKAB’s operation is the production of chemical products through the chemical conversion of bioethanol. The raw materials used are ethanol and air (oxygen), which react with one another. All of these products are grouped under the generic name ’ethanol derivatives’. Ethanol is especially useful within industry due to its good solvent properties and is often known as denatured spirit. Industrially produced ethanol has many applications – in water-based paints, pharmaceuticals, perfumes, cleaning products, varnish and inks, for example.
SEKAB runs a comprehensive development project. From its founding in 1985, the volume of production has increased dramatically. The company is continually working to improve its processes, both in terms of increasing volumes and efficiency.
