Ylwa Alwarsdotter

Ylwa represents Sekab internationally and often writes on Sekab’s blog about the advancement of the bioeconomy in Sweden and Europe.

A dedicated environmentalist, Ylwa joined Sekab in 2001. Today she heads up Sekab’s strategic market development, primarily focusing on the areas of chemicals and biofuel.

Ylwa is a board member of the European Chemical Industry Council, and shuttles between her Örnsköldsvik base in Sweden and Brussels to provide expertise to the EU. In 2019, web magazine Il Bioeconomista listed Ylwa for the third consecutive year as one of the women in the world that has had most impact on the development of the global bioeconomy. She is a civil engineer, educated at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

Her hands-on experience in the industry coupled with her international knowledge of the policy and regulatory aspects of the bioeconomy makes Ylwa a unique voice in the global drive towards a bioeconomy. She is often engaged as a speaker and advisor.
