Sustainability through transparency

Transparent carbon footprint and calculations

Sustainability is not just a part of our operations; it is the very core of our entire business. It goes beyond our bio-based products through our operations and further to reducing emissions in our value chains.

We want to give you an accurate, independently verified Product Carbon Footprint and have chosen to follow the standard ISO14067 to show that the cradle-to-gate emissions of our products are carbon negative.

See the calculations and total carbon emissions of our products:

At Sekab, we have adopted ISO 14067 to provide reliable and science-based data on the climate impact of our bio-based chemicals. Our Environmental and Sustainability Engineer, Anna Olsson, explains why this matters and how the process works.

Our climate goals

We are already well advanced in our own climate work. For us, emissions are clearly linked to two areas – energy and raw materials. We are connceted to Science Based Targets Initiative where our goals are set with 2021 as the baseline. Sekab has set goals that have been scientifically approved both in the short and long term. We will achieve net zero emissions in Scope 1 and 2 and reduce emissions in Scope 3 by 42 percent by 2030. By 2040, we aim to have reduced total emissions in all scopes by 90 percent.

Sekabs goals for 2030

Scope 1 and 2: 0
Scope 3: 1 ton CO2 per ton total sold volume

Scope 1 emissions are direct greenhouse gas emissions from sources that a company owns or controls, such as fuel combustion in company vehicles or onsite manufacturing.

Scope 2 emissions are indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy, like electricity or steam used by the company.

Scope 3 emissions encompass all other indirect emissions across the value chain, including emissions from suppliers, transportation, product use, and disposal.
