An engineer with a market focus and extensive global industry experience will become the new CEO of Sekab. Mikael Fränckel will lead the company towards a new era of commercialization and development.
Sekab is one of Europe’s leading biochemistry companies. Every year, Sekab produces and delivers biochemical products and biofuels to customers in Sweden and abroad. Demand is constantly growing, and in the coming years production will increase and include more products. In addition to its current best-selling products, Sekab is a leader in innovative solutions in green chemistry and has the technology to produce forest-based ethanol. Sekab is currently working to scale up and commercialize that technology.
Sekab’s Board of Directors has, after an extensive process, recruited Mikael Fränckel as the new President and CEO to lead this new phase in the company’s development.
– The timing is perfect for Sekab’s offer, but we need to sharpen our focus and accelerate our pace to take advantage of that opportunity. We are happy that Mikael Fränckel wants to take on this task. His extensive experience from the process industry, his clear leadership and his forward-looking view of business development will make us stronger in this important phase, says Gunnar Olofsson, Chairman of the Board of Sekab.
Mikael Fränckel is currently Business Area Manager for process industry at the technology consulting company AFRY (formerly ÅF) with responsibility for AFRY’s offering in that sector in both Sweden and North America. Mr Fränckel holds an engineering degree from Mid Sweden University and received leadership training at the Stockholm School of Economics. He resides in Örnsköldsvik.
– There is nothing more stimulating than being part of a company’s effort to reach new heights. During my more than 20 years in the industry, I have followed a large number of companies on the journey Sekab now wants to make and I know what is required. I see strong market demand for more green solutions which Sekab should be able to offer, but I also know how fast-moving others can be. Sekab has great potential. I want to drive development and strengthen Sekab’s position locally, regionally and globally, says Mikael Fränckel.
Mikael Fränckel will take over as CEO in the spring of 2021.
