Implemented project
– from wood-based sugar to plastic packaging
Production of wood-based fructose for the manufacture of plastic bottles and plastic packaging.
The main objectives of the ReTAPP project are to demonstrate the production of fructose from wood-based raw materials and to prepare the entire value chain for the market introduction of PEF resin using this fructose. The processes have been optimised and demonstrated by the three consortium partners: Sekab – the technology supplier of the wood-to-sugar technology; Avantium, – world leader in the production of PEF; and MetGen – which supplies the enzymes to make the processes more economically and environmentally sustainable.
ReTAPP has enabled the cooperation between the consortium members in order to address the entire value chain and achieve goals that none of the companies could achieve alone. The European competitive advantage can be found in the strong collaboration between experts in their fields, such as MetGen, Sekab and Avantium.
The ReTAPP project has received funding from the EU Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement no. 691414.
Further information about the consortium and the ReTAPP project can be found on the project’s website.
