THE CHEMICAL PLANT
At SEKAB’s chemicals plant we produce acetaldehyde, ethyl acetate and acetic acid. We refine and convert ethanol into biofuels and ethanol-based chemical products. We work with catalytic processes in which the ethanol raw materials react extremely efficiently, our largest by-product is ordinary water.
We work according to the circular flow principle:
- Production takes place with as little toxicological effects as possible and minimised climate impact
- In our production processes we aim at all times to avoid exposing the natural environment to systematic increases in toxic concentration.
- Our products are handled in such a way that we minimise toxicological effects, and minimise environmental impact.
Advanced purification in a closed system
SEKAB uses very advanced gas purification technologies in its production lines. The outgoing process water is treated in a very effective anaerobic (acid free) wastewater treatment process – after purification the water has a status close to completely unaffected natural water.
In SEKAB’s chemicals plant we can produce Acetaldehyde, Ethyl Acetate and Acetic Acid from ethanol raw materials. The ethanol can be biological and fossil free or fossil-based. The choice is determined by the customer’s requirements and the price of the ethanol.
Green raw materials for the sake of the climate
In our chemical plant we can produce green products from renewable raw materials in a process driven by green bioenergy. This provides a product entailing very low emissions of climate impacting CO2e, from the perspective of the whole production process.
Furthermore, SEKAB can provide products produced using second-generation cellulosic ethanol as the raw material. In that way we keep our processes and products as carbon neutral as is at all possible.
