Sekab has hired Emil Källström as deputy CEO and strategic business developer. He joins the company at a time when growing demand leads to both great opportunities and new challenges.

Sekab is one of Europe’s leading biochemistry companies. Every year, they produce and deliver biochemical products and biofuels to customers in Sweden and abroad. Market demand is constantly growing, and production will increase and expand into additional products in the coming years. In addition to their best-selling products, Sekab is a leader in innovative solutions in green chemistry and has the technology to produce scalable and commercial forest-based ethanol.

The company is expanding rapidly and has therefore hired Emil Källström as deputy CEO and strategic business developer.

– Sekab has all the potential to grow, but it will require a lot from us. We’ll need to stay one step ahead to take advantage of the strong demand and the potential in the products and the technology. Emil Källström’s knowledge, network and strategic ability will help Sekab strengthen its position as a market leader, says Mikael Fränckel, CEO of Sekab.

Emil Källström has been a member of parliament from Västernorrland for the past 11 years. Since 2014, he has been the Center Party’s economic-political spokesperson and member of the Riksdag’s Committee on Finance. He has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Stockholm School of Economics.

At Sekab, Emil Källström will take on the role of deputy CEO and strategic business developer. Among other things, he will monitor and analyze the market, not least at the European level, as EU regulations have a major impact on Sekab’s operations. Our strategic work at various levels, for example at industry forums, aims to create conditions that benefit Sekab and the company’s customers. Emil Källström will develop customer relationships and sustainable business practices across Sekab’s broad portfolio.

– There’s never been a better time for a company that offers sustainable solutions to society’s challenges. I firmly believe in Sekab’s strategy to take this opportunity to invest and build for the future. With our operations, we can make a real difference for climate change and at the same time create growth in Örnsköldsvik. It feels incredibly fun to be able to get on board and contribute with my experience, says Emil Källström.

Emil Källström will start at Sekab on October 1, 2021.
